Have you ever thought about having a pool party INDOORS? At this point you're probably thinking I'm crazy, but I'm serious, VERY serious. On rainy days, this is a great trick to pull out of your hat. And be careful, you might even have a little fun too.
What you need:
Inflatable or plastic pool
Room with floor space
Shredded paper
Swimsuits and towels (just for pretend of course)
What you do:
Put your pool in the middle of the room and fill it with shredded paper. (I just use paperwork that needs to be shredded anyways). Then, stand back and watch as the fun takes place. My kids love to "splash" around in the makeshift pool and they even enjoy helping me clean it up when we're done. You can get as involved as you want to. Today, my son was even "drying" himself off with a towel he was so into it. I added blue construction paper today to make it look more like water. You can top it off with an indoor picnic and/or ice cream sundaes. Be creative. Either way, this is definitely a lot of fun!

absolutely absurd
have you ever truly thought about how crazy it was for God to ask Noah to build a boat? I mean really, nobody knew what a boat was, what it looked like, what it was for. some theologians believe it had never even rained on the earth up to that point. so for them to conceive a flood.......don't know what i think about that, but even still, a BOAT?
i mean, that would be like God asking you or i to build a vehicle that could travel to some planet that scientists haven't even discovered yet. or a vehicle that could travel in time. or, or, well i don't really know what it would be like cuz it seems as thought we've seen it all these days.
not to mention the fact that Noah was like 600 years old already when God asked him to do this. and it took him almost a hundred years to build the silly thing. Noah's faith to continue such a project is just unreal. especially considering the criticism he must have endured.
only a truly personal, daily, and deep relationship with the Creator of the Universe could sustain such a faith. may the Lord bless me with such faith, and may i endure in whatever task he has planned for my life....

dear Jesus
how precious it is to watch the faith of a mustard seed sprout into a little seedling and break through the soil of the heart of a toddler.
yesterday, while i was sitting on the couch with my son noah (3), we heard the thunder roll in the distance. he immediately snuggled up closer to me as we watched some silly episode of veggie tales. a few seconds later he heard the trash truck in the front driveway, and wanted to go look out the window and see, but was scared because of the thunder. i asked him if he remembered what he was supposed to do when he was afraid. i then reminded him he could pray and ask Jesus to help him not be afraid. so right then and there, without further guidance, he kneeled at the side of the couch, folded his hands, bowed his little head, and said," dear Jesus, fank you. pease help me so not be fraid. amen." he then jumped up as if freed from the chains of his fear and ran to go look out the front window.
three things struck me about his little prayer. after i picked my jaw up off the floor and wiped the tears from my beeming eyes, i realized this was the first time he had prayed of his own initiative without just repeating me. it was so genuine and it was his own prayer.
second, the simplicity of it. he said what needed to be said, and then had the faith to do what needed to be done.
third, he stopped to say thank you first. how many times do i?
and all this coming from a little boy who refuses to pull up his own underwear
